Davidsons fishing safaris are based at the world famous Mount Borradaile Safari
Camp, where fishing has always been a popular activity with visitors to the
area, with some clients catching and releasing in excess of 50 barramundi in one
day. A 20kg (44lbs) barramundi is not uncommon and will look great mounted on your
trophy wall or cooked on the coals or barbeque at the camp, cook it yourself or
our chef will do it for you.
Fishing platforms range from 12 ft. dinghies to 17 ft. punts and our
experienced guides will make sure that you're never far from the hotspots. We
supply all the necessary tackle including rods, reels and lures on a replace if
damaged or lost basis, or alternatively, you can bring your own fishing
equipment with you.
The
region is interlaced with a network of rivers, floodplains and rainforests that
are home to many bird, animal and reptile species including the awesome
estuarine (saltwater) crocodile, some measuring up to 18 ft. Swimming is
strictly forbidden in rivers and billabongs, but you can cool off in one of the
many crystal clear pools in the higher reaches of the Arnhemland Escarpment.
If you want a break from
boar hunting or barramundi fishing during your safari, you can indulge in many other activities
at no extra cost, including a visit to the spectacular rock art galleries,
birdwatching or a sunset cruise on a nearby billabong. There is no set
itinerary, you decide whether you fish, hunt or experience the culture of an
ancient race.
